The highlight of our year is our annual show each fall, which is always an original musical comedy developed and performed by members or our group. Last year’s show was titled, and revolved around, the “Ill-Fated Grand Opening” of a new community bank and the events which ensue. In addition to being fun, participation in this activity provided great experience in the actual production of a show. In recent years we have also produced a special dessert theater in the spring with a themed show, such as this year’s “Fabulous 50’s”. A similar event is being planned for this year.

Our monthly meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 PM in Laurel Hall from September through June. Following a brief business meeting, we enjoy some form of entertainment, which may be a short skit or musical program. At a past meeting, we initiated an open mic Karaoke Night, which was quite successful. In the spring we host a talent show, which is open to all members of the community. All of our meetings also feature delicious refreshments. We welcome new members at any time; whether you like to perform or would just like to be involved in other aspects of our organization, such as building sets, selling tickets, etc. Annual dues are only $5.00 per person.

Several years ago, as an adjunct to Curtain Callers, Ernie and Elaine Montefusco, long-time members of our club, conceived the idea of a creative Writers’ Group, which now meets regularly on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month in Laurel Hall from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Members of the group, individually or collectively, develop the skits and shows which we perform; however, they are also available to assist members of the community with advice on any writing efforts in which they may be involved. Any resident who has an interest in creative writing, whether you a member of Curtain Callers or not, is very welcome to join this group.

Our community is indeed fortunate to be blessed with a tremendous amount of talent, whether it is musical, literary, performing, legal or business. With this we look forward to continuing our activities well into the future.
